The competition for the awards of the President of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (2024 edition) has been solved

Fifteen applications were submitted to the competition for the awards of the President of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAS) and the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (NASU) for outstanding scientific achievements as a result of joint research conducted by scholars of both countries. The Polish Academy of Sciences will fund three equal financial prizes of USD 5,000 each (USD 2,500 for the Polish and Ukrainian sides). The prizes will be awarded to:

  • the application of the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Archaeology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, entitled Ancient Monuments of the Black Sea – in the social sciences and humanities category,
  • the application of the Institute of Experimental Biology of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Molecular Biology and Genetics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine entitled The role of ß-catenin and pyridoxal-5-phosphate (PLP) in the regulation of heart development, function and metabolism – in the category of biological and medical sciences,
  • the application of the Centre for Polymer and Carbon Materials of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Electric Welding of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, entitled Formation and characterisation of advanced polymers and polymer composites – in the category of exact and technical sciences.

The award ceremony for the Polish and Ukrainian winners of the competition is planned for 12 September 2025 as a follow-up event to the Polish-German-Ukrainian meeting entitled Ukrainian science in transition – partnership for reform and reconstruction.
