Institute of Agrophysics of Polish Academy of Sciences
Institute of Agrophysics of Polish Academy of Sciences (IA PAN) conducts research for the sustainable production of agricultural plant raw materials.
Areas
agronomy, engineering and environmental protection, agricultural technology
The aim is to ensure food security and limit adverse environmental and climatic changes. The unit’s research focuses on soil, plants and plant-based raw materials of agricultural origin, soil and plant microorganisms, as well as the atmosphere and greenhouse gases.
The socially and economically important issues that are the subject of the Institute’s mission and strategic objectives have their origins in physical, chemical, and biological processes at the molecular level. Therefore, the implementation of strategic objectives involves studying phenomena occurring in the soil-plant-atmosphere system on a scale ranging from molecular to macroscopic, using knowledge from various disciplines of agricultural sciences, exact sciences, and natural sciences.
The main strategic objectives of the Institute of Agrophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences are to ensure appropriate conditions for the cultivation of agricultural crops and high-quality food from plant raw materials. Through its activities, the Institute also strives to limit and prevent the effects of climate change. The unit’s employees are also involved in the development of the circular bioeconomy.
The objectives of the Institute of Agrophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences are achieved through interdisciplinary basic and industrial research and development work. The scientific potential of the Institute is built up, among other things, through the education and development of scientists. The unit cooperates with public and private sector entities, and the results of its research are published in scientific journals with a global reach.
