Institute of Molecular Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences

The Institute of Animal Reproduction and Food Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Olsztyn has been operating since 1988.

Areas

food and nutrition technology, animal husbandry

The history of the Institute began in 1953, when a branch of the Warsaw Institute of Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, namely the Department of Ferromagnets and Ferroelectrics, was opened in Poznań. After several transformations, the Institute of Molecular Physics (IFM PAN) was established in 1975.

The unit conducts scientific research in the field of physical and technical sciences and disseminates the results of this research. The Institute’s tasks include, in particular, conducting research, experimental and theoretical work in the field of molecular physics, condensed matter physics, materials engineering, biophysics, and related issues. Scientific work is carried out in 12 research departments and 2 environmental laboratories using experimental and theoretical methods.

The Institute attaches great importance to the education of students and doctoral students, as well as to the popularization of science. It operates within the framework of the Poznań Doctoral School of the Polish Academy of Sciences Institutes. Students of the Faculty of Technical Physics at the Poznań University of Technology carry out their diploma theses at the Institute. It also conducts intensive scientific cooperation with other units within the framework of agreements between academies and international agreements.

Its popular science offerings include the annual Low Temperature Physics Workshops “Summer with Helium,” “Interactive Workshops” (organized at the Institute’s branch in Odolanów), regular lectures “Physics Worth Knowing” and “Researchers’ Night.”

The unit has the highest scientific category A.
