Polish Academy of Sciences, Poznań Branch

The Poznań Branch of the Polish Academy of Sciences was established in 1972 and covers the Greater Poland and Lubusz regions.

It was the third branch to be established in Poland, after Krakow and Wrocław. The initiators of the activities aimed at establishing the Polish Academy of Sciences Branch in Poznań were professors Gerard Labuda and Maciej Wiewiórowski. The branch began to organize institutions and scientific committees. Prof. Gerard Labuda became the first president of the Polish Academy of Sciences Branch in Poznań.
