Committee on Acoustics of Polish Academy of Sciences
Committee on Acoustics of the Polish Academy of Sciences was first established on 30 June 1964 by decision of the Presidium of the Polish Academy of Sciences at the Division IV of Technical Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences. It was created on the initiative of Prof. Ignacy Malecki, one of the founders of acoustics in Poland and a scholar who made an outstanding contribution to its development.
The scope of the committee’s activities:
- expert opinions and assessments in the field of acoustics,
- cooperation with scientific organisations and societies,
- publishing activities,
- evaluation of research programmes in the field of acoustics,
- combating vibroacoustic hazards,
- environmental protection against noise,
- use of ultrasound in technology and medicine.
