Committee on Ancient Culture Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences
The Committee on Ancient Culture Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences was first established in 1952 as one of eleven scientific committees established at Division I. The Committee consisted of Bronisław Biliński, Ryszard Gansiniec, Adam Krokiewicz, Iza Małowist-Bieżuńska, Kazimierz Michałowski, Tadeusz Sinko, Stefan Srebrny, Władysław Strzelecki, Wiktor Steffen and Rafał Taubenschlag. Kazimierz Kumaniecki was appointed chairman. In 1960, the committees were reorganised. It was decided that the committees for Oriental Studies, Ancient Culture Studies and Modern Languages were similar in nature, and they were replaced by the Committee for Philological Sciences, consisting of three sections: Ancient Culture Studies, Modern Languages and Oriental Studies.
