Committee on Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering of the Polish Academy of Sciences
The Committee was first established in 1972 with the aim of consolidating the scientific community in the field of biocybernetics and biomedical engineering and coordinating activities to ensure the comprehensive development of this discipline in Poland. The most important achievements of the Committee to date include the establishment of the Institute of Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the International Centre for Biocybernetics (MCB), as well as the publication of four multi-volume monographs on Biomedical Engineering (26 volumes in total) and the organisation of 22 scientific conferences on Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering.
The scope of the Committee’s activities includes: representing and supporting the development of the scientific discipline of Biomedical Engineering and related disciplines, integrating scientists from across the country working in this discipline, and popularising the results of scientific research and supporting their use in medicine.
