Committee on Demographic Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences
The Committee on Demographic Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences (KND PAN) was first established in June 1962, replacing the Demographic Commission created a year earlier at Division I of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Its name reflected the conviction of researchers of demographic processes about the interdisciplinary nature of this research. Prof. Edward Rosset became its first chairman.
The committee’s scope of activity includes:
- assessing the state and directions of development of research on population processes, population policy and social policy,
- disseminating research results,
- preparing expert reports and scientific opinions.
