Committee on Geodesy of the Polish Academy of Sciences
Committee on Geodesy of the Polish Academy of Sciences is a self-governing body representing the disciplines of geodesy and cartography, serving to integrate scholars from across the country. It was first established in 1952 and was initially affiliated with Division III of Mathematical, Physical, Chemical, Geological and Geographical Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences, and then, from 1978, with Division VII of Earth and Mining Sciences.
Committee on Geodesy of the Polish Academy of Sciences brings together experienced scientists conducting research on broadly understood geodetic issues.
In particular, the Committee’s tasks include:
− disseminating the results of debates, discussions and scientific conferences in the field of geodesy and cartography,
− assessing the state and needs of the discipline of geodesy and cartography and related scientific institutions,
− preparing opinions, assessments, expert opinions and scientific forecasts concerning the discipline of geodesy and cartography,
− cooperating with the bodies of the Polish Academy of Sciences and scientific institutes in supporting the development of people starting their scientific careers,
− cooperating in the implementation and dissemination of the results of scientific research and development work,
− ensuring that Polish science makes a representative contribution to the development of science worldwide, including through the development of international cooperation,
− preparing multidisciplinary scientific studies in cooperation with other scientific committees,
− conducting and evaluating scientific publications,
− providing patronage for scientific seminars, conferences and symposia.
