Committee on Literary Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences
The Committee on Literary Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences represents Polish literary scholars and philologists. Over the course of its more than 50-year history, it has changed its name, structure and scope of activity. Currently, information about the Committee’s activities is available at: https://knol.pan.pl/pl/ The Committee was first established within the organisational structure of the Polish Academy of Sciences as the Committee on Literary Studies on 26 March 1960. In accordance with its objectives, it assumed the role of an advisory and consultative body.
From the outset, its scope of activity included:
- integrating the community of literary researchers, stimulating scientific cooperation between Polish studies centres in Poland and abroad,
- formulating and expressing opinions on matters concerning the development of philological sciences,
- issues of Polish language teaching at primary and secondary school level, including the evaluation of Polish language teaching programmes and school textbooks,
- issues of university teaching, including teacher training programmes,
- organising, co-organising and providing substantive support for academic life, including congresses, conferences and academic sessions,
- assessing candidates for membership of the Polish Academy of Sciences and candidates for academic awards.
