Committee on Philosophical Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences
The Committee on Philosophical Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences existed from the very beginning of the Academy’s activity. However, its fate in the first decades was changeable. Established for the first time on 25 May 1952, it operated for four years under the chairmanship of Adam Schaff. After its dissolution in 1956, philosophers were not represented on any committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences for the next four years. In 1960, the Committee on Philosophical and Sociological Sciences was established, again under the chairmanship of Schaff.
