He conducts research in the field of functional genomics, including transcriptomics, proteomics, nutrigenomics, and bioinformatics, as well as research in the areas of molecular biology, experimental embryology, animal behavior, and animal biodiversity.

Applied research focuses mainly on improving the nutritional and health-promoting properties of raw materials and products of animal origin, taking into account animal welfare and reducing the undesirable impact of agricultural production on the environment. The work is carried out in five research facilities, an experimental facility, and four laboratories.

Over the last five years (as of the end of 2021), the Institute has carried out numerous grant projects: 15 international (including four under the Horizon 2020 program), 45 NCN, and seven NCBR. The Institute employs 65 researchers and 20 doctoral students. The internationalization rate of the staff is approaching 30%. The institution cooperates with 80 research centers in Poland and abroad.

The unit’s employees publish their work in JCR-listed journals and are also the creators of many patents awarded gold medals at world invention fairs in Europe (Geneva, Brussels, and Barcelona) and the US. IGBZ PAN is classified in the high scientific category A in the field of health sciences and category A+ in the discipline of zootechnics and fisheries. It also obtained the prestigious status of National Leading Scientific Center in 2015-2019 and European Center of Excellence in Genomics and Biotechnology ANIMBIOGEN in EU. In 2017, it was awarded the HR Excellence in Research logo by the European Commission.
