The upcoming parliamentary elections are a good time to discuss the concept of science policy for the coming years with representatives of political groupings. Professor Dariusz Jemielniak, Vice President of the Polish Academy of Sciences, will ask his guests, during the meetings broadcast live, questions about challenges and threats to the development of science and innovation in Poland and worldwide, plans for the amount of funding for science, as well as ideas for supporting scientific research.

There will also be questions on ideas to increase the involvement and participation of civil society in the process of creating and implementing the state’s science policy, as well as on improving working conditions and professional development of scientists, especially young and beginning scientists, and making scientific careers more attractive.

Concluding debate

The concluding debate of the series of meetings will take place on 26 September. It will be attended by:

  • Marek Konarzewski, Prof., President of PAS,
  • Marta Miączyńska, Prof., Director of International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw,
  • Piotr Wachowiak, PhD, DSc, rector of SGH Warsaw School of Economics,
  • Zbigniew Błocki, Prof., Director of dyrektor of National Science Centre,
  • Dominik Antonowicz, PhD, DSc, professor from Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń.
