on the current threats to science and scientific research
The Polish Academy of Sciences expresses deep concern over the escalating threats to research activities in the United States of America. Recent developments, including funding restrictions on crucial topics, such as climate change and the winding down of U.S. science agencies and research organizations, negatively impact the integrity of scientific and scholarly endeavors. Due to the global nature of the research ecosystem, these decisions affect researchers in the U.S. and worldwide.
Confronted with these troubling developments, we must strengthen scientific research and technological collaboration in the European Union. We also must continue to support science in Ukraine. We need to stand up for science in the face of the growing challenges posed by financial pressures and ideological agendas.
