Polish Academy of Sciences stands in solidarity with the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine

We were deeply shocked to learn that a Russian drone struck the building of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in central Kyiv. The attack has resulted in fatalities and injuries, while the fate of some people remains unknown. The building has been severely damaged.

The Polish Academy of Sciences strongly condemns this attack and expresses its solidarity with the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, its staff and the entire Ukrainian scientific community. We extend our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims and wish those injured a swift recovery.

The National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine is our long-standing partner, with whom we share not only joint scientific initiatives, but also many years of cooperation and friendship. Behind institutions, laboratories and collections are, above all, people – researchers and staff who, despite the ongoing war, remain in Ukraine and continue their work. Today, we stand with them more than ever. The Polish Academy of Sciences stands with the Ukrainian scientific community and is ready to continue supporting our partners – said Professor Marek Konarzewski, President of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
