Scientific Awards of Division One

The scientific awards of the Division of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences are granted for outstanding and creative scientific works published no earlier than four years prior to the award ceremony. The awards are granted by the Division’s plenary session in a secret ballot. It takes into account the recommendations of the committees for individual awards, which mainly consist of Division members.

The Division of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences awards prizes in 15 disciplines. Each prize is awarded once every three years. The calendar for awarding prizes is adopted at the beginning of each term by the plenary meeting of the Division.

In 2025, the Division of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences is accepting applications for scientific awards in five research areas:

  • Tadeusz Kotarbiński philosophy
  • art history
  • Władysław Witwicki psychology
  • Ludwik Krzywicki sociology

 

Submitting applications for scientific awards of the Division One of the Polish Academy of Sciences

The application for the award must be accompanied by a justification and a review of the work submitted for the award, as well as the author’s personal details and information about their place of employment, and at least one printed copy of the work, unless it has been published exclusively in electronic form, and an electronic version of the work, if it has also been published in such a version.

Applications for the award, prepared in accordance with the requirements set out in the regulations, should be sent to the following address: Polish Academy of Sciences, Division of Humanities and Social Sciences, Plac Defilad 1, 00-901 Warsaw, or in electronic form with a qualified electronic signature to the following address: wydzial_1@pan.pl by the deadline until 31 March 2025 (the date of the postmark is decisive).
