Matematyk, pracuje w Uniwersytecie Wrocławskim, doktorat 1984, profesor od 1996. Główne zainteresowania naukowe: równania różniczkowe cząstkowe i asymptotyka ich rozwiązań. Najważniejsze publikacje dotyczą nieliniowych równań typu parabolicznego, również z nielokalną dyfuzją – będących modelami układów typu uśrednionego pola (mean field) dla cząstek oddziałujących grawitacyjnie lub elektromagnetycznie w fizyce oraz modelami chemotaktycznego oddziaływania mikroorganizmów w biologii. Szczególnie subtelne wyniki w zakresie badania dychotomicznego zachowania rozwiązań: albo globalne w czasie istnienie, albo wybuch w skończonym czasie (np. kolaps grawitacyjny). Współpraca m.in. z matematykami francuskimi (Paryż, Orsay, Lyon, Tuluza, Bordeaux) i amerykańskimi (CWRU – Cleveland).
