The Polish Academy of Sciences coordinates the cooperation of the Polish scientific community with 60 international scientific organizations. The Academy supports the participation of its representatives in research programmes carried out within these organizations, as well as the engagement of Polish scientists in the work of the governing bodies of these organizations. Collaboration with international organizations is carried out by the PAS national committees as well as scientific and task force committees of the Academy performing the function of national committees.

The InterAcademy Partnership (IAP) was formally launched in South Africa in March 2016, bringing together three established networks of academies of science, medicine and engineering, namely IAP, the global network of science academies, the InterAcademy Medical Panel (IAMP) and the InterAcademy Council (IAC).
Under the new InterAcademy Partnership, more than 140 national and regional member academies work together to support the special role of science and its efforts to seek solutions to address the world’s most challenging problems. These include both national academies/institutions as well as regional/global academies. IAP members also include 74 academies with social science expertise, 64 academies with humanities expertise, and 85 academies with technology and/or engineering expertise.
In particular, IAP harnesses the expertise of the world’s scientific, medical and engineering leaders to advance sound policies, improve public health, promote excellence in science education, and achieve other critical development goals.
The Polish Academy of Sciences joined IAP in 2000.
The InterAcademy Partnership is active in 4 regional affiliate networks: Association of Asian Academies and Societies of Science (AASSA), the Advisory Council of European Academies of Science (EASAC), the Network of African Academies of Science (NASAC) and the Inter-American Network of Academies of Science (IANAS). Since 2004 PAS is a part of the Advisory Council of European Academies of Science (EASAC).
In 2010-2016, PAS coordinated work of the International Biosecurity Working Group, chaired by Prof. Andrzej Gorski, established within IAP. Its goal was to spread information in the scientific community about biosecurity and the risks associated with the possibility of using the results of scientific research in a manner inconsistent with the original assumptions (e.g., for bioterrorism).
