Project PERITIA: Warsaw citizens’ forum behind us

On Saturday, February 18, 2023, the Civic Forum organized by the Polish Academy of Sciences within the PERITIA project took place in Warsaw. The main goal of the project is to study the public’s trust in scientific knowledge.

The workshop in Warsaw is one of five organized as part of the series by the project’s partners. Last November, Director of the Office of International Cooperation Anna Plater-Zyberk, as a representative of the Polish Academy of Sciences, attended the first one, which took place in London.

The PERITIA Civic Forum in Warsaw is the fourth installment of research under the project

The formula of the workshop organized in Poland, similarly to previous workshops, included exercises for the participating research group and speeches by experts in the field of transportation and in the context of the climate crisis.

The goal of the PERITIA project

Specialists representing various expert communities participated in the study. The world of science was represented by Dr. Anna Urbanek from the University of Economics in Katowice, journalists were represented by editor Michał Jamroż – deputy editor-in-chief of Gazeta Wyborcza Trójmiasto, while the NGO sector was represented by Hubert Różyk – spokesman for the Foundation for the Promotion of Electric Vehicles.

After each expert presentation, participating Warsaw residents had the opportunity to ask the experts additional questions and share their thoughts with the research group.

The survey began and ended with respondents filling out questionnaires, on the basis of which a survey report will be compiled. The country reports will form part of the final report on trust in experts in all the countries involved.
