Join us for the Science for Policy Workshop hosted by the Polish Academy of Sciences in collaboration with the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission’s Directorate-General, which will take place on 23-24 April 2024 at the Staszic Palace in Warsaw.
The aim of the training is to present researchers the policy-making cycle and discuss the importance of scientific input at all stages of the policy-making process. The training modules include how to communicate uncertainty and guidance on how science can respond to questions coming from central administration offices.
The programme for the researchers’ workshop includes:
Day I
Plenary session:
Presentation of Science for Policy issues
Practical sessions:
Examples of policies and the roles played in them
Bridging the gap between scientists and policy makers
Day II
Plenary sessions:
Strategies for influencing
Understanding audiences: analysing target groups
Communicating your work – crafting a message that will convince your audience
Challenges and tips for researchers on Science for Policy
Preparing messages for a specific audience
Creating impactful presentations
Researchers, especially young academics, are encouraged to attend the workshop. The training will be held in English in a workshop format. Those interested in participating in the training are kindly requested to send their applications to: Renata.Kuskowska@pan.pl by 10 April 2024. The application should include a max. 2-page CV and a short cover letter (max. half a page). Due to the format of the meeting, the number of workshop participants is limited.
